If you're a Perseus user and have installed one of Microsoft's 64 bit OSes then you will need to download this 64 bit Perseus driver package.
Please provide any feedback in the Perseus Yahoo group.
I have had feedback from five users who confirm that under Vista 64 they have Perseus working fine with this driver.
Instructions
Download the driver above.
Open Device Manager from the Windows Vista Computer Management utility.
- Click on Start and then Control Panel.
- Click on the System and Maintenance link.
- In the System and Maintenance window, click on the Administrative Tools link near the bottom of the window.
- In the Administrative Tools window, double-click on the Computer Management icon.
- When the Computer Management utility opens, click on Device Manager on the left side of the window, located toward the bottom of the list under the System Tools heading.
- With Device Manager open, locate the hardware device that you want to update the drivers for.
- After finding the hardware you're updating drivers for, right click on the hardware's name or icon and choose Properties. In this Properties window, click the Driver tab.
- Click the Update Driver... button.
- On the How do you want to search for driver software? window, click on Browse my computer for driver software.
- In the next window labelled Browse for driver software on your computer, click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, located at the bottom of the window.
- Click the Have Disk... button located under the text box.
- Click the Browse... button on the Install From Disk dialog box that appeared.
- In the Locate File dialogue box that appears next, navigate to the folder that you extracted as part of the driver download above.
- Click the INF file that displays in the file list and click the Open button.
- Click the OK button back on the Install From Disk dialogue box.
- Choose the newly added hardware in the text box and then click the Next > button.
- The Windows Vista Update Driver Software wizard will now use the instructions provided in the INF file to install the updated drivers for your hardware.
- Follow any additional instructions on screen to complete the driver update.
- You may be prompted to restart your computer after the driver update is complete.
I am in the process of installing Windows 7 64bit; I will update this post later and with a HOW-TO along with pictures to help people who are not 100% computer literate.
(note: I also have a signed 32bit driver should anyone need that.)
A word of warning! These are 64bit ONLY they wont do 32bit OSes. You will need to use the real driver from the Perseus CD.
The cat and inf were made from modifing a custom inf file for another item that uses the same Cypress driver and then some help from the MSDN library combining the two.
They come as-is and use at your own risk but I have used them along with several other people without any issues.
